Stuff from Stephers

I used to share a blog with Melissa, but she's been MIA for a few months, so I made it all mine! Random thoughts on my every day life to bore you with.

Thursday is the happy day

Well, its Thursday and officially the best day of the week. One reason being that the week is almost over and the other being that nothing bad has happened to me yet today (I’m knocking on wood furiously as I type that). I made an A on the test I was worried about and in the class. Yay me! My car cost $450 to fix and when I turned on my headlights Tuesday night after class I found out that one of them is suspiciously out now. And then there’s some other less than fun stuff but I will think positively. This weekend we’re doing a girls night and it is my every intention to finally go ride my bike again too. And if it rains I’ll just ride around my apartment. I don’t have school next week so I’m looking forward to doing anything I feel like even on a whim. The freedom that most people have is highly undervalued. Maybe you are just sitting there watching TV or reading blogs but you have the opportunity to go to the store before it closes if you need or to meet friends for happy hour on a lark. I plan to fully appreciate the opportunity to do such things next week. So if someone wants to go to Top Shelf Tuesday at Trudy’s or do something all day on a Saturday I am officially free for one week. And even after that, now that it is summer and Barbara and Sarah aren’t working and Misty will be in town we can meet up for lunch sometimes and in 4 weeks I’ll be done with dog training and we can do something fun on Thursdays too. This is sort of a pep talk to myself to get me through the stress of this week, and partly a drawn out way to say that I’m ready for some summer fun!

Things to cry about on Mondays

1. I didn't study enough for my final
2. my Check Engine Soon light came on
3. I freak out about what to do
4. I end up taking my car in and getting a rental
5. go home and have this conversation with the Discover Card lady
Me: So my balance is only $15 and my available credit is $0
Lady: well, something's probably pending. Umm... the cash advance for $4,533
Me: NO! I didn't DO that!
Lady: please hold...

Returnus Bookwormus Maximus

I just realized that I have finals in a week. Agh! How come I didn't notice this sooner? Talk about being stressed. I have to write an 8-10 page paper some time this week and then study diagnosis for Abnormal. I read five chapters today and am on the path to two more before I go to bed. Saffy's dog school starts Thursday night and I have class Monday and Tuesday, Alumni Council Friday night and all day Saturday. So really, this leaves me Wednesday and Sunday, and maybe some sparse time in between. Please excuse me if I flake on something I said I'd do with you this week because I have the feeling I might have to. Anyone have the urge to go drinkin' the weekend after finals?

I will (hand you my flowers)

Last weekend I was at Sara's wedding being her MOH. I have to say that being around her and her parents just makes you feel good because they always tell you how pretty you look and say really nice things about everything you do. I kept everyone organized, nagged the boys, and crawled under Sara's dress to fix her bustle among other things. We had a ton of fun getting our nails, hair, and make-up done. Cruising around in the limo on the other hand made us all a little motion sick. Sara was the most beautiful bride, and David was the sweetest groom switching out the ring that Sara had picked with a different one. And she found out in the ceremony so it really was a surprise. My toast seemed to go over well. However, dancing with Sara or David seemed to attract the videographer waaay too fast so there's one part where I decided to run from the guy and he chased me. I also danced with the tallest guy there who informed me among other things that he was the best kisser there and that he had a big ego and girls like that. Ha! Just a warning - don't tell a girl that the first time you ever talk to her because it didn't bode well for him. After the wedding Barbara and I wandered down to the riverwalk to find some snacks. We ended up eating a meal, and a pitcher of margaritas which we had to chug in about 45 minutes. We had to give part of it to these two guys - one Hungarian and one German. Anyhow, after getting the waiter to give us about 15 extra minutes he took what was left and we paid the nice man and went home. On a side note - it was really expensive so don't drink on the riverwalk. On the way home Barbara puked, and a cop rode by on his bike and yelled something that I couldn't tell what, but I think he thought it was funny.

Addendum: I forgot to mention that the littlest flower girl was my date most of the night. We danced the night away and at one point her mother said she'd pay me to dance with the flower girl. ha! Don't worry - I don't accept cash to dance (that would sort of make me a "dancer" right?). The next morning I went back to Sara and David's apartment to pick up my car and they took me out to lunch at this really good restaurant called La Fogata. Sara and David pick the best restaurants so if you're ever in San Antonio I'd recommend trying it out! All in all it was a fabulous weekend!

Did I mention...

Have I ever mentioned that I have dementia? Well I just bought a pill organizer so it's official. It's embarassing but I totally can't remember if I've taken my medicine or not so I have to do it. Make fun of me as you wish.

Interlude

Last weekend was a lot of fun - thanks to everyone who made that possible. Friday we did some drinking, and then some more on Saturday after I was productive and met Misty for lunch AND got that paper done. On Sunday me, Barbara, Sarah and Ebony went to brunch at the Paggi House where we had BOTTOMLESS mimosa's for the low fee of $14. I was pretty darn tipsy by the time we got out of there. I had no idea. But I'd have to say I highly recommend their brunch. A little expensive for every week, but good for every now and then. Anyhow, I'm leaving town on Thursday to go to San Antonio for Sara's weekend so I'll be crazy at work trying to get stuff done. I just wanted to let everyone know that things are going well for now. And apparently since I decided this was the method which to share my mental happenings, I'll keep you all updated now. I know, what a cliff hanger ;o)
