Stuff from Stephers

I used to share a blog with Melissa, but she's been MIA for a few months, so I made it all mine! Random thoughts on my every day life to bore you with.

The I Hate Compass Club

OK, I hate my bank. I'm sure this is partially due to me spending too much money and not making enough and being in school and having a ton of bills, etc. I recognize it has to be partly my fault, but these things didn't happen this way at my old bank in Georgetown. BUT they always do this thing where they sort of disregard my paycheck. Like right now it shows negative and positive money in my account at the same time. Note the date and that my paycheck has probably been there since yesterday because that's the way my company does it. How does that happen? They'll take like 3 days to put my paycheck through, but if I went to HEB last night it's on my statement. What is their deal? And there's money in there, but since they haven't decided to post my paycheck yet they'll just keep charging me NSF funds until they decide to stop stalling and put it up. Which i want to know how they can do if they show I have money in my available balance. And then this automated thing calls and says they're worried about my account. Umm...I'm worried about it too you a-holes. Stop screwing with me! I'm seriously switching banks. I hate you Compass! I have had nothing but problems and overdrafts since I switched to you. You are shady and not customer friendly (the people at the locations are nice, but the company is on my list). I shake my fist and other things at you. I'm throwing rocks at you in my head. If you walked into a church you would be struck my lightening. On The Exorcism of Emily Rose I think one of the demons she was possessed by was YOU COMPASS!

Maybe you could pay $15 to join Wheatsville Co-op and then get an orange card and you could join my bank. :) Seriously, though, that is shady.

my bank is the same way (wells fargo). i bought gas this morning and i bet you anything it will post before my paycheck does (which deposits automatically at midnight). if i try to fight it all they tell me is to "be more careful." like you, i say quit being assholes.

i have heard horror stories about compas doing obese amounts of fee-charging. i recomend moving, but when you do - ask the potential new bank about their system.

barbara- what's Wheatsville Co-op?

I use Bank of America. Have since I was far, so good. When I was in NYC I used BOA and Citibank and I was never so glad to see BOAs start popping up in Manhattan b/c Citibank is about as crappy as your Compass seems to be. But BOA, they have yet to dissapoint.

I second the Bank of America support - they let me withdraw funds from the same day my paycheck is posted, and don't charge overdrafts for it even though the money is still listed as "pending."

If there's any way to get into a credit union though, I hear that's where the real perks's like a co-op but a bank.

ok, so it's either Wheatsville Co-op (which lets you into the UT Federal Credit Union Danielle) or Bank of America. Thank you for the advice. Glad to know I'm not just losing my sanity. And yes, they do have crazy NSF fees. I still don't get how I can have a negative posted balance and a positive available balance. Fist shaking.

Hmmm...My old roommate had a terrible time with BOA because of fees. I'm at WF, and I love it. I've never had a problem, and they always count my paycheck as though it's already deposited, even when it's pending. (Maybe it's our company??) So now that I've gone against everything everyone else has said...Good luck!
